Confusion

We assume we are immortal,
with endless time
and we have in our possession
an eternity of charm

We keep spinning the wheel of life
running blind,
aspiring to achieve the next big thing,
forgetting love,
ditching relationship,
forgoing deeds

And soon we crush
the simple joys that life bestows
postponing happiness
and ignoring blithe

But then sardonic life ditches us
and lying on the sick bed
every materialistic possession
appears lackluster and bleak

All that matters then
are love and some moment of bliss
sadly though in life’s rat race
a lifetime vanishes
leaving behind
a saddened heart
and despaired eyes

  1. I love this …coz I believe in this . It’s a mirror image of my thoughts ………an entire life is wasted running behind things that are futile. ……bravoπŸ‘πŸ‘

  3. Lovely poem, Shantanu. To me, it says that we need to be more in the moment, experiencing life now and not chasing tomorrow or we could have regrets. Beautiful. -Jill
