Shades on Eyes

Defiant heart refuting the truth,
aberrant soul hiding
beneath some hazy soot,
pensive charm silently
rattling the hornet’s nest,
and the crotchet thoughts
defeating some raucous smile

She perfected each one of her move,
disguised every word she spoke,
but despite such fierce strife,
she failed to deceive those innocent eyes

She tried many tricks, coaxed, pleaded, appeared deviant,
yet nothing worked,
for she couldn’t train her eyes to lie,
so she resigned,
and took shelter under the dark shades,
her own refuge under the naked skies

  1. You can never deceive your eyes. Eyes never cease to hide your true self. They reveal all those emotions buried deep down.
    Mesmerising! 😊

  2. Another incredible work of art. Nothing can be hidden inside us because as others say the eyes are the window to the soul. Thanks Shantanu for this acute look where we once never tread !

  7. You write so wonderfully even pain seems beautiful, loved the lines “she couldn’t train her eyes to lie,
    so she resigned,”

  8. “..for she couldn’t train her eyes to lie..” — if only those eyes were a violin.. Such fine music I hear in this beautiful piece.
