The Doldrums first appeared as a threat
before the sailor adjusted the mast
to navigate the sloop
to sail with the wind

Life often surprise us
with such doldrums,
throwing us off feet,
leaving us aghast and frustrated,
but remember,
without the presence of such jolts
complacency circumvent us
and then life will be such a bore
