The beautiful narcissus flower name originated from ancient Greek mythology where Narcissus was a handsome young man who fell in love with his own reflection in a pool of water. This was done as a pun punishment for his refusal of love to a 
lovely princess Echo by the God Nemesis.

The word Narcissist actually originated from this Greek mythological story.
