Innocuous Smile – A Poem

That innocuous smile of yours
that hides all the pain,
and the atrocities of life
that you are accosted with

You may not know,
for I never showed
or made you aware of
is how your subtle smile
dwells your thoughts
deep into heart

And often when I am alone
it flows down as tears
trying to wash away your pain
and shed away the past grime
so you can see my aberrant heart
and we hold each other close
for the rest of our lives
