Sanguine Smile

The torment of the passing storm
had brought the town to its knees,
battered house,
shattered emotions
hopelessness convened
devastated souls lost any lingering hope
accepting their painful defeat

And resigned to their fate
engulfed in sorrow
they led a defeatist life,
often blaming God
for its atrocities and wrath

And as the dilapidated surroundings
were rambling an eerie
a defiant face rouse from the Far East,
she wore a radiant smile,
and she gracefully sauntered
like some sailor adjusting the bunt
taming a ferocious ocean

And she moved like a breeze
like some bourn flowing with ease
her innocuous eyes
reflected a sanguine smile
despite the prominent rife
that clouded the old townโ€™s life

And then she gave hope,
she rattled lost souls thoughts
and the town soared ahead
with some renewed hope

  2. Beautifully vibrant, Shantanu. After the clouds comes the sun. A lovely poem of hope and desire to keep living despite difficulties.
