The raised hands
were meet with apprehensions
and a subtle dejection
crossed his superfluous mind
And that restless heart’s reach
was met with a restless glum
the pensive smile appeared defeated
worn out facing the many battles of love
And with drop shoulders
and a bereaved soul
he dragged his feet
away from her sight
assuming distance would bring
the much needed respite
how naive was his thought
for her yore was his shadow
dark or in light
it was always by his side
