Lost – A Flash Fiction

The dilapidated house was left ajar, giving an uncalled invitation to any passerby. The aura was spooky and the silence hummed a constant eerie. It was over two days Linda was haphazardly tracking her way to find any human habitation without much success. The house was her only hope. Maybe she would find someone, maybe some clue to break away from the maze she was trapped. With a hesitant mind, she stepped inside, what appeared like a Victorian house from some past yonder. The hallway though draped with layers of cobwebs, appeared grandeur. The rusty balustrade, the wooden long winding staircase, the dusty chandeliers, and the ornate walnut neoclassic settees, pulled her in with ease.

A gentle soft touch on her shoulders shook her to the spine. The ice-cold touch froze her to the ground. It took a herculean effort for her to turn and accost her company. She turned and saw nothing but silence mocking her helplessness with an eldritch bellow.
