The hallucinations were rampant
howling his benign heart
like some rogue waves
slapping rocks on a faraway beach in a full moon night.

And so were his emotions
making his vision blurry lest evasive
battered and severed
by the atrocities of life.

If at all he would have known before
loving someone deeply
often comes with a burgeoning price
