She quailed her desires
in the darkest corner of her mind,
scared that the ruthless world
would ruin it,
and she stashed her yen
under the wrap of obscurity,
saving her eyes from welling
the bitterness brine

With such insanity
she led an ostensible life,
and now she assumed
it to be her true self,
wearing some phony smile,
and those brows
doesn’t raise any more
when she experienced any love,
and that heart does sink
when someone said those terse words

Her world was superficial,
so was her charm,
and her thoughts narrow,
desires shallow,
her eyes were a lump of coal,
with no desire to ignite any glow

And when the hopes were tarnished,
and desires came to a grinding halt
he appeared from nowhere,
and embraced her in his magical spell,
but her jolted self,
refused to trust…
