Assumed Worries

Shantanu Baruah's avatarConfab With Me

She wasted so much time bleating,
now she could hardly recall
the last time she enjoyed
having a good laugh

She questioned every little smile
that occasionally drifts over her lips
and doubted every tiny happiness
that sometimes passed by to greet

She had drawn a dark curtain
in front of her eyes
draped in a dark shroud
of deceit and lie

And when life sometime
beacons her casually from a distance
she assumes the sound
to be a cacophony and a source of irritant

The shell had become
her unfortunate abode
happiness became an illusion
where she struggled to remain afloat

Worries should be always
nipped at the bud,
otherwise trivial complains
later becomes difficult to snap

  1. Shantanu, how true are your words, worry will imprison your life, if not dealt with. Great piece of wisdom. Inspiring too..

  2. Worries and overthinking kills you slowly. Instead of thinking about what has happened and what will happen we must live in present.
    Absolutely beautiful poetry ,Shantanu😊🌼

  3. Such profound words.
