LA has become my new home for the past one week and will remain so for another couple of months. I invariably spend 3 days a week here. Besides the travel part, 6 hours one way flight time, LA is always charming. I have made San Pedro my temporary abode, a port city about 20 miles south of LA downtown.
Every time I hit the gym, a small rack at the entrance holds the following running track card. I have been eyeing it for a while but never found time to explore. Yesterday evening I decided to break the mold. I chose a path from the card and went for a run.

Like luck would have it, I took the wrong turn and landed in a port site construction zone. It looked little barren and creepy and after about a mile of the run, I looped around to explore the other side. Soon I was greeted with boardwalk, museums and neon lights and I knew I was now on the right track. As I was sprinting, I saw a sign displaying in bold, “IOWA battleship“. I moved closure and saw the real ship docked as a museum about 400 feet away on the waters.

Iowa battleship was commissioned in 1943 and fought three wars, World War II, Korean War, and the Cold War. It has earned 11 battle stars and has seen three US president. It has been serving as a museum since 2011.
I love such sudden discovery, especially when I am out in the open without any set purpose.
And by the way, the blog display picture is LA in the morning today from the gym of my hotel. Thanks for reading.
