I wrote this poem inspired by the people of Chennai who came together to help the community at large after they were hit by the rain deluge in 2015
Deride by nature’s wrath,
The relentless deluge brought the city to its knees,
But not the spirits of people,
Standing together,
Fighting the aftermath,
Determined to subdue the mayhem,
Not succumbing to its bully,
The Human Spirit.

Adversity in our lives being out the best and worst of the human character. A beautiful ode, Shantanu.
Thanks a lot Megha. I was almost in Chennai but the travel plan changed and I came back from Delhi. So saw this episode very closely.
I know the feeling. The same exact thing happened to me during the superstorm Sandy.I flew out a night before the landfall.
Yeah. Narrow escape
Yes extremely.
This is so heartfelt and I wish I had read this around that time! I would have felt the power even more 😀 I don’t know if you’ve watched VIP 2 but in that movie, Dhanush says something along these lines: “We need a huge flood to wipe our city out and leave us on the streets for us to realize that status and gender and caste are rubbish, don’t we?”
Thank you so much for reading and commenting. I have friends over there and I know how the entire city came together. I have not watched the movies I will check t out
My pleasure 🙂
Do watch the movie when you can. It’s great!
