Don’t Be A Fool

You were a fool,
for you assumed
if you change
he would no longer be cruel,
and if you submit to his deplorable demands
he would welcome you to his world.

You were imbecile,
For you thought
he was the epitome of love,
and you ignored
all his insouciant shouts
on every occasion
when he opened his mouth.

You don’t deserve any of this,
neither his fury
nor his superfluous love
,
for if it was love
You wouldn’t have to change at all.
