The Worn Out Serge

The worn out woolen serge
was hanging loosely from his shoulders
the weather was warm,
unpleasant enough to wear the drape,
making him perspire
in abundance,
leaving him at times flustered and agape.

Yet, regardless of season, night, day or occasion
he kept it close to his heart,
keeping his yearning pleasantly warm
with the hope,
that one day
she would long for him and return
